Phase 1: The Foundation
Week 06 of 52 · Day 36–42
Building a Sequence
Learning Objective
Assemble a complete narrative sequence with a clear beginning, middle, and end.
This Week
This week marks your first attempt at building a complete, self-contained narrative sequence. You will take a collection of raw footage and shape it into a story. The sequence should have a clear setup, a complication or turning point, and a resolution. Focus on clarity: can a viewer who knows nothing about the footage understand what is happening and feel something?
Daily Practice
Practice assembling short sequences (30–60 seconds) from random footage, always asking: what is the story? What does the audience need to know, and when? (30–45 min)
Weekly Challenge
Using footage from EditStock, Pexels, or your own camera, assemble a 3-minute narrative sequence. It should tell a complete story without any dialogue.
