Week 45 of 52 · Day 309–315

Visual Effects — Titles and Motion Graphics

Learning Objective

Learn to create professional titles and lower thirds.

This Week

Modern editors are expected to have at least a basic understanding of visual effects and motion graphics. This does not mean you need to be a VFX artist — that is a separate and highly specialized profession — but you should be able to create professional-looking titles, basic compositing, and simple visual effects within your NLE.

Daily Practice

Practice creating different styles of titles and lower thirds in your NLE or in Adobe After Effects. Focus on typography, animation, and readability. (45–60 min)

Weekly Challenge

Create a set of professional title cards and lower thirds for a short film. The titles should be clean, readable, and consistent with the visual identity of the film.
